Learning Journal/Nursery App

Children have a learning journal documenting their learning and development based on each child’s individual plan and observations made by the child’s Key Person.

To ensure that as a parent or carer you are kept informed of your child’s learning and development each Rainbow Angels Nursery provides parents with access to their child’s daily diary and learning journal through our secure pin protected Nursery App for Apple and Android devices. Each child’s achievements, learning observations, photos or videos are available for parents to view at any time. The Nursery App also allows parents and guardians the opportunity to be involved with their child’s learning and development by uploading photographs, videos, observations and next steps directly to the Nursery App.

Our Nursery App makes life easier for parents and guardians by allowing effective communication with our nurseries and quick access to our policies and consent forms. Parents can sign forms using our sophisticated Digital Signature feature.

End-of-Term Reports

End-of-Term Reports detailing your child’s progress for the term are sent out quarterly, at the end of each term.  Where schools request a report at the end of your child’s time at the nursery please speak with the Nursery Manager to make the relevant arrangements.

Progress Check For Two-Year Olds

Parents will be given a Progress Assessment based on the EYFS Prime Areas (Communication & Language, Physical Development and Personal, Social & Emotional Development) for children aged between 2 and 3 years old.  The Progress Assessment will identify your child’s strengths in the Prime Areas, their overall progress and any areas where your child’s progress is less than expected.

If there are signifying concerns, developmental delay, or an identified special educational need or disability, the nursery working in partnership with parents and other professionals (for example, Special Educational Needs Co-ordinators (SENCO) or health professionals), as appropriate, will develop a targeted plan to support the child’s future learning and development.  The nursery will obtain written parental consent before sharing a child’s progress report directly with other relevant professionals.

EYFS Profile For Five-Year Olds

In the final term of the year in which your child reaches age 5, and no later than 30 June in that term, your Rainbow Angels Nursery will complete an EYFS Profile for your child assessing their learning and development in the 7 EYFS Prime Areas and Specific Areas (Communication & Language, Physical Development, Personal, Social & Emotional Development, Literacy, Mathematics, Understanding the World, and Expressive Arts & Design). The EYFS Profile will provide parents and carers, practitioners and teachers with a well-rounded picture of a child’s knowledge, understanding and abilities, their progress against expected levels, and their readiness for Year 1. The Profile will reflect on-going observations, all relevant records held by the nursery for the child, discussions with parents and carers, and any other adults whom the Key Person, parent or carer judges can offer a useful contribution.

Year 1 teachers will be given a copy of the EYFS Profile report together with a short commentary on your child’s skills and abilities in relation to the three key characteristics of effective learning (Playing & Exploring, Active Learning, and Creating & Thinking Critically).
